Maple Walnut Bars

  • 1 package Classic Yellow Cake Mix Duncan Hines(R)
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 4 large eggs divided
  • 1 1/3 cups maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan. Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix.

    Combine remaining cake mix with butter and 1 egg until well blended. (Mixture will be crumbly.) Press into prepared pan.

    Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on wire rack.

    Combine reserved cake mix, maple syrup, remaining 3 eggs, brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed 2 minutes. Pour over crust and sprinkle with walnuts.

    Bake 26 to 28 minutes or until filling is set. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars.
