- 6 c. flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 8 oz. margarine or butter (2 sticks)
- 2 c. very cold milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl.

3With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in margarine until the mixture is the consistency of cornmeal and peas.

4Add the milk and bring the dough together by stirring gently with a flat-edged spoon.

5If the mixture is too wet, add more flour.

6If it won't come together, add more milk.

7Place the dough on a well-floured surface and knead only 13 to 15 times. Roll out the dough to 1-inch thickness (1 thumb knuckle).

8Using a biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits.

9Bake 15 minutes.

10Yields 2 dozen biscuits.
