Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 3/4 tsp. cornstarch
  • dash of allspice (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 3/4 c. light cream
  • salt to taste (optional)
  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 c. water
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Combine meat, crumbs, onion, cornstarch, allspice, egg, cream and salt.

    Shape into small balls.

    Drop balls into hot oil in skillet.

    Brown well on all sides.

    Transfer balls to warm plate. Blend flour with remaining fat in skillet.

    Stir in water, bouillon cubes, salt and pepper.

    Cook, stirring until smooth. Arrange meatballs in sauce and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes. Great with mashed potatoes!
