Ingredients
- 1 c. yellow corn meal
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 (8 3/4 oz.) can cream-style corn
- dash of hot pepper sauce
- 1/4 c. bacon dripping, melted
- 1/4 c. minced green onions, with tops
- 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions

1Combine first five ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

2Set aside.

3In another bowl combine buttermilk and eggs.

4Add corn and remaining ingredients.

5Pour over dry ingredients and stir until blended.

6Do not overmix.

7Pour batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish or pan.

8Bake at 400° for 35 minutes or until bread tests done.

9Cool 5 minutes before cutting into squares.
