  • 1 c. corn meal
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. grated cheese
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 or 3 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 1 small can corn (cream-style)
  • 1/2 c. cooking oil*
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
