- 1 can cream-style corn
- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 1/3 c. melted shortening
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 (4 oz.) can green chiles, drained and chopped
- 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions

1Combine the first 6 ingredients; mix well.

2Pour half the batter into a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

3Sprinkle with chiles and half the cheese.

4Pour on remaining batter.

5Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

6Bake at 400° for 45 minutes.

7Cool 10 minutes before cutting into serving pieces.
