- 3 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt into a bowl.

2Cut in shortening until crumbly.

3Combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, all at one time.

4Stir with fork to make a soft dough.

5Turn onto floured surface; knead lightly 15 times.

6Roll to 1-inch thick.

7Cut with 2-inch cutter.

8Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.

9Bake at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
