Ingredients
- 6 to 8 pieces Mullet (fillet)
- 3 medium sweet potatoes, sliced and peeled
- 3 to 6 pods fresh cayenne pepper
- 3/4 c. shortening
- water
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1In large skillet, beginning with potatoes, alternate layers of fish and potatoes.

2Place whole pepper pods through layers.

3(For spicier dish, chopped peppers are stronger.)

4Divide shortening into three spoonfuls and place at edge of pan.

5Fill skillet to top of mixture.

6Bring to boil.

7Reduce heat to simmer and cook, covered, for about 1 hour.

8When potatoes are soft, you're done. Serve with rice.
