- 1/2 teaspoon superfine sugar
- 1/2 ounce bourbon, plus 2 ounces
- 8 to 10 red-stemmed mint leaves
- 2 cups crushed ice
- Sparkling water, as needed
- 1 lemon twist
- 1 mint sprig
- Confectioners' sugar
Directions

1In a 12-ounce, Collins-style glass, dissolve sugar in 1/2 ounce bourbon.

2Add mint and bruise gently with muddler or wooden spoon.

3Fill the glass 2/3 with crushed ice and mix gently.

4Add more ice and remaining bourbon.

5Top with sparkling water and stir.

6Rub rim of glass with lemon twist, squeeze mint sprig slightly, and insert stem into ice.

7Dust top of drink with confectioners' sugar.

8Insert 2 straws into ice so drinker must bury nose in mint in order to sip drink.
