  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1 c. buttermilk

    Sift flour and add soda, baking powder and salt.

    Cream shortening with sugar, eggs and vanilla flavoring. Add flour mixture alternating with 1 cup buttermilk. Mix thoroughly.

    Pour into large greased and floured tube pan.

    Bake 1 hour 10 minutes at 350°.
