  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs or the equivalent egg substitute
  • 1 1/2 c. cake flour or 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. almond or lemon extract
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract

    Cream together butter and shortening.

    As you continue to beat with mixer, gradually add sugar (do not pour all in at once).

    Add eggs one at a time.

    In another bowl, mix flour and baking powder. Add to creamed ingredients alternating with milk.

    Stir in extracts.

    Pour in greased and floured (9 x 5 x 3-inch) pan.

    Bake at 325° for 50 to 55 minutes.
