  • 4 tablespoons of corn starch.
  • 3 cups canned tart red cherries
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring,
  • 4 drops of almond extract ,
  • dash salt,
  • 1 tablespoon butter.

    Oven 400 degrees

    combine 3/4 cups sugar with corn starch. stir in cherry juice. cook over med heat. stir occasionally, till mixtures thickens and bubbles. cook 1 minute longer. Add remaining sugar, cherries, butter, almond extract and food coloring. Mixture will be thick. Let stand while preparing pie crust. line 9 inch pie plate with pastry Fill, adjust top crust. cut slits for escape of steam.
