- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 2 beaten eggs
- 5 to 6 c. flour
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1 c. mashed potatoes
Directions

1Mix milk, potatoes, shortening, sugar and salt in large bowl; cool to lukewarm.

2Add yeast softened in water.

3Add eggs; add 1 1/2 cups of flour and beat well.

4Add more flour; beat.

5Add more flour to make a stiff dough.

6Turn out on a board and knead thoroughly.

7Place dough in a greased bowl; grease top of dough; cover and let rise for 2 hours.

8Turn out on floured board and roll to 1/2-inch thickness.

9Cut into 2-inch diamond shapes.

10Pull on opposite ends to elongate.

11Dip in melted butter and lay alternately in buttered ring mold.

12Let rise until double.

13Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.
