- 4 c. lukewarm water
- 4 c. flour
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 c. additional flour (more, if needed)
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 6 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Add first 4 cups of flour and stir. Add shortening, sugar and salt, then stir.

3Add additional flour and knead until it springs back.

4Cover and let rise to double in bulk.

5Then punch down, put in loaf pans and let rise again.

6Then bake at 350° until brown, about 45 minutes.
