Mother'S Fruit Cake

- 1 lb. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 6 eggs
- 4 c. flour (cake flour sifted, then measure)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 lb. candied cherries (red and green)
- 1/2 lb. candied pineapple
- 1 lb. chopped pecans (1 qt. or more)
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar; add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each.

2Add 3 cups flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Mix remaining 1 cup flour with fruit and coat well.

3Add to batter; mix well.

4Pour in tube pan that has been lined and greased with brown paper.

5Bake at 250° for 3 hours or until toothpick comes out clean.

6Allow cake to cool in pan.
