Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
  • Lemon sauce

    Pour boiling water into top of a double boiler; stir in cornmeal, water, and salt. Cook over boiling water, stirring occasionally, 2 to 3 minutes; cool.

    Stir cornmeal mixture into eggs in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

    Pour mixture into a well - greased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 250° for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Serve warm with lemon sauce.
