Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
- 3/4 c. chopped onions
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 6 slices bread
- 3/4 c. chopped celery
- 3/4 c. chopped bell pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 Tbsp. pepper
- 3 eggs
- 2 1/4 c. milk
- 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
- grated Swiss cheese
Directions

1Saute mushrooms in butter; drain.

2Saute onions, celery and bell pepper.

3Grease an 11 x 13-inch pan.

4Toast bread and paint with melted butter; cut into squares.

5Put in pan and put mushroom mixture, mashed up celery, bell pepper and onion on top of bread. Add salt and pepper; add another layer of bread.

6Beat eggs and milk; pour over casserole.

7Let stand overnight in refrigerator. Cover with mushroom soup, layer of bread and Swiss cheese.

8Bake at 300° for 1 hour.
