Ingredients
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1/3 c. vegetable shortening
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. dry milk
- 3 1/2 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in the 1/4 cup warm water.

2Combine boiling water, shortening, sugar and salt.

3Cool to lukewarm and add yeast.

4Stir in beaten egg.

5Add dry milk.

6Beat in as much flour as possible and then continue to add enough to make a soft dough, kneading 8 to 10 minutes.

7Put into a large bowl that has been oiled, turning dough to coat it all over.

8Cover and let rise in a warm place (85°) until doubled, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
