Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. corn meal
  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 1/3 c. molasses
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. cloves
  • 1/8 tsp. allspice
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 c. milk (to be added last)

Directions

    Add corn meal to scalded milk.

    Simmer 20 minutes.

    Add all of ingredients except eggs and 1 cup milk.

    Cool.

    Carefully add eggs. Pour into casserole dish.

    After 1/2 hour, pour last cup of cold milk on top.

    Bake at 350° for 2 1/2 hours.

    Serve with half and half cream or milk and molasses.
