- 1 1/2 lb. smoked ham hock
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Wash beans in hot water; drain.

2Combine in large kettle with ham hock and 4 quarts hot water.

4Cook slowly for 3 to 4 hours or until beans are tender, but not mushy.
