- 6 c. sifted flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 yeast cakes
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Measure 6 cups of sifted flour.

2Combine milk, sugar and shortening in saucepan; scald, but do not boil.

3Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast cakes and let stand 5 to 10 minutes, then stir until dissolved.

4Add salt.

5Gradually beat in the sifted flour.

6Turn out on floured board and knead gently until smooth.

7Place dough in greased bowl; cover and let rise in warm place (80° to 85°) until double in size.
