Ingredients
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Stir in sugar, salt and half the flour.

3Beat until smooth.

4Add egg and shortening.

5Mix. Beat in remaining flour until smooth.

6Cover with cloth and let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in size.

7Grease muffin tin, cookie sheet or loaf pan.

8Stir down dough.

9Pour into loaf pan or fill muffin cups half full or shape into rolls.

10Cover and let rise until doubled in size again.

11Bake at 375° for 15 minutes for rolls or muffins, slightly longer for loaves.
