Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped cherries (maraschino)
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- lukewarm water
Directions

1Heat butter and milk until butter is melted.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Soften yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water in mixing bowl. Add sugar, salt, raisins, cherries and egg.

4Add butter and milk mixture; mix well.

5Gradually add flour to form stiff dough.

6Beat well after each addition.

7Let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk.

8Turn out on floured surface.

9Toss lightly until dough is covered with flour and not too sticky.

10Divide into 3 parts and place in 3 well-greased, 1 pound coffee cans.

11Cover; let rise until double in size.

12Bake in moderate oven at 350° for 1 hour.
