  • 1 1/2 c. walnut halves
  • 1 c. blanched almonds
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3 stiffly beaten egg whites
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. flour

Directions

    Toast walnut halves and almonds with salt in 15 x 10 x 1-inch or 13 x 9-inch pan in 325° oven 10 to 15 minutes until light brown. Remove from pan.

    Melt butter in pan.

    Combine egg whites with sugar, vanilla and flour.

    Fold in toasted nuts.

    Spread in buttered pan.

    Bake 30 to 35 minutes.

    Stir occasionally to break apart until brown.

    After baking, sprinkle with cinnamon.

    Serve as cookie or candy.
