  • 3 c. walnuts (whole)
  • 1 lb. pitted dates (whole)
  • 1 c. mixed candied fruit (green and red cherries and pineapple)
  • 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Put nuts, dates and mixed candied fruit into large bowl. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt over nuts and fruit. Mix with hands until nuts and fruit are coated.

    Beat eggs until foamy; add vanilla.

    Stir into nut-fruit mixture until well mixed. Turn into greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 pan.

    Spread evenly. Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

    Cool before slicing.
