  • 1/2 c. plus 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 c. date sugar
  • 1/2 c. minus 1 1/2 tsp. water
  • 6 egg whites or 3 extra large eggs
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. well packed unsweetened cocoa powder or unsweetened carob powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 3/4 c. oatmeal flakes
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. melted butter
  • 3/4 c. raspberry preserves
  • 1/2 c. sliced almond

Directions

    Blend together the first 5 ingredients.

    Add the melted butter. Press 2/3 of the mix onto bottom of greased 9-inch square baking pan.

    Spread the raspberry preserves over the mix.

    Add the almonds to the remaining 1/3 of the original mix and spread over the raspberry; press lightly.

    Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.

    Cool.
