- 1 cup whole oat groats
- 2 apples medium-sized
- ground cinnamon
- ground cloves
- ground nutmeg
- canola oil
- maple syrup
Directions

1Bring 3 or 4 cups of water to a boil.

2Add oat groats and boil uncovered for about 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3When water starts to take on a milky, slightly thicker appearance, the groats should be cooked.

4Strain cooked groats, and immediately begin steaming for another 5-7 minutes.

5Separately, peel and dice apples.

6Place in frying pan with enough oil to coat the pan.

7Sprinkle cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg on top to taste.

8Fry on low to medium heat until softened but still slightly crunchy.

9Combine oats (after steaming) with fried apples, and serve hot with maple syrup to taste.
