Ingredients

  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 4 Tbsp. molasses
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 6 c. flour

Directions

    Mix together oatmeal, molasses, oil and salt; cover with the boiling water.

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Add yeast, 1/2 cup warm water and sugar; add about 6 cups flour.

    Knead 8 to 10 minutes.

    Let rise until double.

    Punch down and put into greased loaf pans.

    When double, bake at 375° 40 to 50 minutes.

    Coat top of bread with margarine after it comes from the oven for softer crust.
