Oatmeal Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 c. boiling water
- 1 c. uncooked oatmeal
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 3 eggs
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips, divided
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1In a mixing bowl, pour water over oatmeal and allow to stand 10 minutes. Add sugars and butter, stirring until the butter melts.

2Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Sift flour, cocoa, soda and salt together.

3Add to batter.

4Mix well. Stir in half of the chocolate chips.

5Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

6Sprinkle top of cake with walnuts and remaining chips. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
