Old Fashioned Cocoa Cake

  • 2/3 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 2/3 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c. cocoa
  • 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. water

Directions

    Combine butter or margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

    Beat on high speed of mixer for 3 minutes.

    Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add alternately with water to creamed mixture.

    Blend just until combined.

    Pour into 2 greased and cocoa dusted 9-inch cake pans.

    Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

    Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans.

    Frost with Cocoa Fudge Frosting.
