- 1 1/4 c. meal
- 1 c. cold water
- 1 1/2 c. meal
- 1 egg
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. meal
Directions

1Add the hot water to 1 1/4 cups meal.

2Make this into mush. Set off to cool, then add cold water and enough meal to make a thick mush.

3This will take 1 1/2 cups meal.

4Cover and set in a warm place until the next day.

5Let it rise.
