Old Fashioned Cushaw Pie

- 4 c. cooked cushaw (pumpkin may be used)
- 1 stick butter
- 1 c. cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 whole nutmeg, grated
- 2 unbaked pie shells
Directions

1Cook cushaw in water until tender.

2Drain.

3Add the butter, sugar and cream, beating with mixer after each addition.

4Add eggs and salt.

5Pour into crusts.

6Grate nutmeg on top.

7(You have to use whole nutmeg, freshly grated, to get the right flavor.

8A basic cream pie with a cup of cushaw added is also delicious.) Bake old fashioned pie at 350° until filling sets.
