- 2 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to buttermilk.

4Mix well.

5Stir yeast mix into dry ingredients.

6Mix well.
-
7Turn onto floured board; knead until smooth.

8Roll 1/4-inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter.

9Spread with butter.
-
10Fold double; place on ungreased baking sheet.

11Let rise 1 hour.

12Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.

13Makes about 2 dozen rolls.
