- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 c. hot water
- 3 1/2 c. bread flour
- 1 Tbsp. Crisco
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoon sugar.

2Let stand 10 minutes.

3Add shortening, salt and 2 tablespoons sugar to the hot water.

4Let cool and mix with the yeast mixture.

5Add flour. Knead to make a compact soft ball.

6Cover and let rise until double (about 1 hour).

7Work down and let rise until double again.

8Work down again and make into loaf.

9Let rise until double.

10Put in a 300° oven and bake for 1 hour.
