  • 4 large onions, sliced thin
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 qt. beef broth (canned is okay)
  • toasted French bread, sliced
  • Swiss or Provolone cheese slices

Directions

    Cook onions in melted butter until tender.

    (Cook slowly, you don't want them to burn.)

    Add flour and blend well.

    Add beef broth.

    (If using canned broth or bouillon cubes, do not add salt.)

    Stir well.

    Add pepper to taste.
