  • 2 c. flour
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. liquid (half milk and half fresh orange juice)
  • zest of 1 orange

Directions

    Stir dry ingredients together.

    Cut in shortening; mix in zest.

    Pour liquid all at one time.

    Mix lightly enough to bind ingredients together.

    Roll on lightly floured board to 3/4-inch thick.

    Cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter.

    Bake at 450° for 20 minutes until golden brown.
