  • 1 c. oleo
  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. dissolved in 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 lb. dates, cut in small pieces
  • 1 lb. orange candy slices, cut up
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. coconut (optional)

Directions

    Cream oleo, sugar and eggs, one at a time. Add flour, alternately with milk. Add candy, dates, nuts and coconut.

    Mix well. Mixture will be thick. Grease and flour tube pan.

    Bake 2 1/2 hours at 250°. While cake is still warm, add glaze while still in pan.
