  • 1 c. butter or Crisco
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/3 c. buttermilk
  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 1 1/2 or 2 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 16 oz. pkg. orange candy slices (chopped)

    Cream together butter or crisco and sugar.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Add all other ingredients and mix well.

    Line tube pan with waxed paper.

    Pour batter into pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour. Reduce heat to 325° and continue to bake for 45 minutes more.
