  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. orange juice
  • 4 Tbsp. orange peel, grated
  • 3 c. flour
  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Directions

    Cream sugar, shortening and egg.

    Stir in milk, orange juice and orange peel.

    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into cream mixture; then blend in chopped nuts.

    Pour into well-greased loaf pan.

    Let it stand 20 minutes before baking. Bake for 50 to 70 minutes at 350°.
