  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb. chopped dates
  • 1 lb. orange slices, chopped
  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 (3 1/2 oz.) coconut

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar in mixing bowl.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each.

    Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to the first mixture.

    In another bowl, add flour, dates, candy, nuts and coconut; stir to coat the fruit and candy.

    Fold into previous mixture.

    Pour into greased and floured tube pan and bake for 2 1/2 hours in 250° oven.

    If using small loaf pans, bake at 300° for 1 hour or until done.
