  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda, dissolved in buttermilk
  • 1 lb. box dates, chopped
  • 1 lb. bag orange slice candy, cut up
  • 2 c. pecans, chopped
  • 1 c. coconut

Directions

  1. 1
    Cream butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time. Add flour alternately with buttermilk (and dissolved soda). Roll dates, candy, pecans and coconut in flour and add to butter mixture. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan in 250° oven for 2 1/2 hours. Test to see if done.
