Oriental Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 2 c. diced celery
  • 1 c. uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 can (10 1/2 oz.) mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10 1/2 oz.) cream of chicken soup
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. soy sauce
  • 1 can bean sprouts, drained and well washed
  • 1 can water chestnuts, sliced and drained

Directions

    Brown ground beef in skillet.

    In a mixing bowl, blend soups, soy sauce and water.

    Place celery, onion, bean sprouts and chestnuts in bottom of buttered 9 x 13-inch casserole.

    Pour the blended soup mixture over vegetables.

    Spread browned meat over top.

    Sprinkle rice over meat.

    Bake 2 hours and 15 minutes in 325° oven with lid on casserole or pan.

    Stir with fork once or twice last 15 minutes of baking.
