Oven Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter or oleo
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 to 6 qt. popped popcorn
  • 1 to 2 c. mixed nuts (optional)

Directions

    Combine first three ingredients in heavy saucepan.

    Bring to a boil and stir for 5 minutes.

    Remove from heat and stir in soda. Pour over popped corn (and nuts) in large roasting pan, stirring to coat.

    Bake at 250°, uncovered, for 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.

    Cool on wax paper.

    Store in airtight container. Makes 5 to 6 quarts.
