  • 1 loaf white sandwich bread (unsliced)
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 3 doz. small oysters or 2 doz. large ones
  • sliced lemon
  • sliced dill pickle

Directions

    Cut the crust from the loaf entirely.

    Cut a fairly thick slice from the top of the loaf and save it for a lid.
  3. 3
    Hollow out the crumbs from the loaf.
  4. 4
    Spread it thickly inside with softened butter and toast the loaf until it is an even golden brown inside and out, also the lid.
