- 2 sleeves soda crackers, crushed
- 4 dozen oysters, shucked, juices reserved
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 1 teaspoon paprika

12 sticks (16 tablespoons) unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for greasing

2Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with butter, and set aside.

3Sprinkle a layer of crushed soda crackers on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

4Arrange a layer of oysters, along with their juices, on top of the crackers.

5Sprinkle with salt and pepper and dot with a few pats of butter.

6Repeat, beginning with another layer of crackers.

7Top with a final layer of soda crackers and then pour the cream over everything.

8Sprinkle with the Parmesan and paprika.

9Bake until golden brown and bubbly, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
