  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 c. rum
  • 1 lemon skin, grated or lemon extract
  • 4 c. flour

Directions

    Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.

    Mix dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.

    Add the vanilla, rum and lemon.

    Grease tube pan and sprinkle with flour. Bake in a 400° oven until cake rises, about 45 minutes. Lower oven to 350° and continue baking for another 15 minutes.
