- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. lukewarm water
- 3/4 c. milk, scalded and cooled
- 5 to 5 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- butter
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Soften yeast in water 15 minutes.

3Add shortening, sugar, salt and milk.

4Add flour, a little at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.

5Knead until smooth.

6(Do not add too much flour.)

7Cover with a damp, warm cloth.

8Let rise until double in bulk.

9Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.

10Cut in 2-inch rounds.

11Butter, fold over and butter again.

12Place in rows on well-oiled baking sheet.

13Cover and let rise until triple in bulk. Bake in a hot oven (450°) for 15 to 18 minutes.

14Makes 24 to 30 rolls.
