Parmesan Onion Bake

  • 6 medium onions, sliced
  • 1 c diced celery
  • 8 T butter or margarine, divided
  • 1/4 c flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/8 t black pepper
  • 1 1/2 c milk
  • 1/3 grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 c chopped pecans

Directions

    Saute onions and celery until tender in a large skillet in 3 T butter; drain and set aside.

    In a saucepan, melt the remaining butter; stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth.

    Gradually stir in milk and bring to a boil.

    Cook for 2 minutes until thickened, stirring constantly.

    Pour over vegetables and toss to coat.
