Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. peanut butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 pkg. chocolate candy kisses (I use Hershey miniature kisses)

Directions

    Cream shortening and peanut butter; add sugar and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla, beat until fluffy.

    Sift flour, measure; add salt, soda and baking powder; sift again.
  3. 3
    Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.

    Chill in refrigerator.

    (I don't always do this.)

    Shape dough into balls 1 inch in diameter. (I use the small Pampered Chef scoop.)

    Place 2-3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 375° for 8 minutes. Remove and press a chocolate kiss in center of each cookie.

    Return to oven and bake for 4 minutes more.

    Makes 7 dozen.
