- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 2 1/2 c. raw peanuts
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, sifted
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Butter 2 large baking sheets; set aside.

2Butter sides of a heavy 3-quart saucepan.

3In saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, margarine and 1/2 cup water.

4Cook and stir over medium-high heat to boiling.

5Clip candy thermometer to side of pan.

6Cook and stir over medium-low heat to 275°, soft crack stage.

7Add nuts; cook and stir to 295°, hard crack stage.

8Remove saucepan from heat; remove thermometer.

9Quickly sprinkle

10soda over mixture, stirring constantly.

11Immediately pour onto prepared baking sheets.

12Cool; break into pieces.
